André Gaio Pereira

Violin

About me

Having returned from London and based myself in Lisbon in 2020, I am a curious musician who happened to fall in love with the violin. In 2017 I was nominated Young Musician of the Year in my homecountry of Portugal.
This season highlights include the recording of my first solo CD with music by Carlos Paredes arranged by myself. As the first violinist of the Tejo Quartet, I will be Artist in Residence at the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam and at the prestigious Académie Musicale Villecroze. Besides, I delve into the sphere of world music and jazz with the Guitolão Trio, a group that just recorded its first album.

“André impressed with his virtuosic skills, interpreting Shostakovich Concerto in A minor with aplomb and refined sensitivity.”
